How To Succeed In Competitive Sport And CrossFit At The Same Time

There are still a lot of people that participate in CrossFit to complement their other physical endeavors, despite the fact that it is now considered a sport unto itself. I started into it because I was seeking for a more intriguing method to be strong and fit than simply going to the gym while playing top beach volleyball.

Establish Your Priority

Being at the top in CrossFit has become a full-time job as the higher levels get better every year. The same holds true for all sports. To excel in any athletic endeavor, talent alone is no longer sufficient. It takes countless hours of training.

You must select what matters most to you this time of year. Do you want to perform at your peak level in CrossFit? Or the top performance in your sport? Aiming for both is a surefire recipe for failure. The majority of athletes should concentrate on their sport, unless they are permanently switching to CrossFit.

Set ambitious yet reasonable objectives

Set some reasonable expectations after you’ve determined your season’s top priorities. The best approach I’ve found to do this is to choose a difficult but doable goal before each WOD. You must be content with yourself if you achieve your goal.

You can also give yourself a stretch goal, like as a number of repetitions or a weight, which, if all goes well, might be doable. Your expectation is your aim. If you miss, you should feel disappointed. But you need to make sure that your stretch goal is unachievable.”

Leave the leaderboard alone

The same competitive spirit that drives sports makes you continually curious about how you stack up against others. Imagine where I would be on the scoreboard if I wasn’t so committed to my sport, I’ve caught myself thinking. If CrossFit is not your primary activity, however, this is your chance to experience some competition without the pressure to perform that comes with your core sport. Prioritize your performance over your ranking.

 

Reduce additional training

There is a good likelihood that you will only have room for a few CrossFit sessions each week if you are also participating in another sport. Spend that time only thinking about the things that will probably feature in the WODs. Despite the fact that only fourteen distinct motions have actually been employed in the Open’s four previous seasons, CrossFit variety is now your enemy. Therefore, you should focus solely on performing countless repetitions of these.

Concentrate on What You Will Miss First

According to studies, you lose muscle endurance and aerobic fitness more quickly than strength and power. I once took a six-month break from CrossFit and only played beach volleyball every day. My maximum lifts were virtually unchanged after six months, but I performed significantly worse in metabolic conditioning WODs. If you don’t have the time or stamina to complete a full CrossFit session due to your other sport, skip the lifting but not the metcons.

More Important Than Another Session Is Rest

It’s tempting to fit in “just one more” workout to get ready for the upcoming WOD. However, your performance will definitely benefit more from being rested and alert. Be careful to take care of your body as well. To stay at your physical best, spend lots of time stretching, receiving massages, and eating well and taking supplements like winstrol depot.

 

Have a Harder Mind Than Everyone Else

The Best Version of You

Being a CrossFitter while also an athlete is undoubtedly difficult. Managing your performance expectations while juggling your training and competition commitments is challenging. Although the aforementioned advice will assist you in achieving your best performance, in the end, the leaderboard will represent the work you did throughout the entire year.
