While I agree with your assessment that many other readers misinterpreted the author's comments about the KKK and Nazi's, I think everyone (yourself included) is missing one major point: both the KKK and the Nazi party are legal entities that are able to conduct themselves publicly in the U.S. In fact, that is the beauty of American civil liberties. No matter how much the general public might dislike them, ANY group is granted equal protection under the law, pending of course that they function within the guidelines of the law. Given this, your comment that "we need to draw the lines somewhere so that the KKK don't come back on campus and we need to start by not allow things like SPG" is utterly ridiculous and ultimately un-American. Besides the obvious point that there is absolutely no connection between the actions of the Queer Alliance and this suggested revival of the KKK (which, btw is still very active in other parts of the country), it is important to realize that it is the ability of groups to express themselves in this manner that makes America the great nation that it is. The moment people become complacent with the idea of sacrificing their civil liberties and constitutional rights to the desires and "standards" of the conservative majority is the moment that America loses its sense of self and ceases to truly be the land of the free.

Well, the author did not say that LBGTQ were on par with historical Nazis or the KKK, simply that if all things were equal, chapters of such organizations (neo-Nazis or the modern KKK) should be allowed to have chapters on campus, because the school's administration has sworn not to exclude based on percieved moral grounds or social acceptance.

I feel that if any group were out on campus were seen torturing and killing people, there would be a lot more action taken than a campus ban.

You produced great tips here. I completed a research on the subject and learnt almost all peoples can concur with your blog. One of the far more extraordinary methods to consider would be to change the roof of your room.

Either you are some kind of troll, this is a really badly written satire, or you are simply a hate-filled moron. And you go to Brown?
I don't even know where to begin criticizing this- a remotely thorough criticism would be several times longer than this article. I honestly started thinking it was a satire around halfway through, but I don't think so no. Wow.

It should be noted that Mr. Quigley did NOT directly compare the Queer Alliance with th KKK or the Nazi's. He was simply pointing out the slippery slope that is moral relativism. Essentially, the moral relativist (in this case the Brown Administration) claims that since nobody can define what is right and what is wrong, morals have no set lines. What Sean is pointing out is that this moral relativist mindset is completely assine when applied to situations such as allowing a KKK organization or a Nazi group on campus. If Brown lets SPG continue because it allows people to express their opinion and freedom, why not give racists the chance to express their opinions and freedom how they choose to, by burning crosses.

Now why does Sean use Nazi's and the KKK? Because they are two organizations that have no redeemable quality and so overtly evil that even the moral relativist manages to define them as "wrong". Basically, if we allow SPG, then we have no right to not allow the kkk and the nazi's. Sean is using grotesque examples to make his point clearer so that you can see the right and wrong, after all we learn through analogies. Unfortunately for Sean he did not plan on your inexplicable inability to recognize this very basic rhetorical device. Essentially, we need to draw the lines somewhere so that the KKK doesn't come on campus and we need to start by not allowing things like SPG to continue under the pretext of "freedom of expression." SPG is morally, and legally dubious and has no place on campus. The Queer Alliance must learn to play within the limits of the law.
